Feng-Wei Lai and Chao-Ling Liu-Chen Lighted Up the Lights to Activate Aimen Roundabout Reproducing the Resplendence with Added Charisma at Night

The renovation of Aimen Roundabout has been completed, replaced by colored soldier statues standing on the roundabout, where the lighting-up ceremony was held on the night of the 5th. Penghu County magistrate Feng-Wei Lai and Penghu County Council president Chao-Ling Liu-Chen attended the activation ceremony, where the rainbow-colored lights presented a new look during the night with added charisma of the Aimen Roundabout at night.
Feng-Wei Lai indicated that the Aimen Roundabout is the only remaining roundabout of public art in Penghu and the soldier landmark has carried the past memories for many Penghu citizens. With the improvement and renovation now, lights at night are added, such that the soldier appears resplendent and handsome again, hoping that the citizens can follow the example of the enduring persistence of the soldier to strive hard for the wonderful future of Penghu.
Chao-Ling Liu-Chen indicated that the Aimen Roundabout is the traffic node for Magong when going towards Lintou Village, Jianshan Village, Longmen Village, Taiwu Village, and Sisi Village. With the endeavors from Yu-Kai Hsu last year, the county government and the township office actively collaborated to complete the engineering project in advance and with the addition of the lights, it is believed that the future of Aimen will be bright.
The Penghu County Government indicated that the Aimen landmark Roundabout and the soldier statue resemble the significant road sign on Penghu No.204 road and the spiritual image for the locals, which has been standing tall at Aimen for 57 years. It has experienced the Aimen Community Overall Constructional Plan, where the original cement statue was replaced with a bronze statue. Due to the long history, the base of the bronze statue was damaged and the statue was mottled, however, with the efforts from Yu-Kai Hsu, the Public Works Department conducted a comprehensive improvement engineering project to complete the reconstruction of the base and the renovation of the bronze statue.
The Penghu County Government indicated that the Aimen Roundabout has a historical meaning and affections for the local people and the Public Works Department from the county government actively renovated the peripheral environmental landscapes of Aimen Roundabout following the local needs, whereas the township office hoped to remind the citizens of the nostalgic affections towards the Aimen Roundabout and the soldier via the approach of holding a concert.
The Aimen Community Development Association organized the “2021 Love for Aimen – Glorious Aimen Roundabout Light-Up Event” on the night of the 5th, where the event combined local old-time flavored delicacies, coffee and fruit tea of the Husi Township, together with music performances including erhu and folk songs. The constantly changing colors of the lights shining on the base created a night landscape visual effect, thereby enhancing Aimen’s charisma at night.
